All kinds of decorative elements such as profiles and rosettes will always make the interior of the room more refined and rich. All of them are made of plastic, and therefore they can be freely used in work, unlike heavy plaster moldings. Designers with professional skills like to use them especially, they very often prefer such decorations for the interior of the room. It does not require certain knowledge of a qualified specialist, any of you can do this kind of work.
With plastic profiles, you can emphasize the necessary and important ideas of the interior. They will help to find a design with a classic look or light airiness combined with romance. With their help, it is possible to visually expand the room or, on the contrary, reduce its space. So a room with very high ceilings can be visually lowered by placing dark decorative elements on its ceiling, placing profiles on the walls in a horizontal position, or making them the border of hotel wall sections along the perimeter of the room. And in order to give the room space, the ceiling is best left flawlessly white, and the profiles on the walls are attached vertically.
Styrofoam profiles can not only decorate the ceiling and walls, but also doors and furniture. A particularly classic look will come out of a piece of furniture, finished with a profile finish for stucco molding similar to the color of the item itself. But, as a rule, decorative profiles tend to highlight with a completely different color or choose a similar tone to the interior elements. Profiles painted in gold, bronze or marble look very expressive and interesting. But, any coating should initially be tried on small cuttings.
Walls with various combinations of finishes look catchy, and when the boundaries between them are made using elements for stucco molding. It should be noted that when applying a combination of wallpaper and decorative profiles, the profiles are first glued, and only then the wallpaper. In addition to straight profiles, additional shaped elements are made of foam plastic. With their help, a special touch is added to the interior of the room.
Before gluing the profiles, all the necessary positions of the elements are marked on the walls in advance and beacons are installed. Small nails or screws can act as such beacons, which will later also serve as an original support for profiles. A thin cord is pulled along the beacons and a line is drawn, which must necessarily follow the level of the lower edge of the decorative profile. For the outer and inner corners, the profiles are cut, making a bevel, and to connect them along the wall, a straight cut.
Glue is applied to the back of the profile and then gently applied to the marked area. In this case, the pressure on the profile must be made light, all excess glue arising from under its edges is removed with a spatula. Then I wipe these places with a damp sponge. The created seams and cracks are also filled with adhesive, gently leveling it with your finger along them, and then wiped with a sponge. On the ceiling, the gluing of the profiles begins with its corner decorations and, in the same way, according to the markings indicated in advance. Then they start gluing straight profiles. Stucco-like finishes can be glued to doorways or limited to specific areas and panels on the walls that need to be highlighted.
In order to glue a decorative rosette around the chandelier, a continuous layer of glue is applied to its back surface around the perimeter. Be sure to first make a through hole in the outlet, which will be necessary for the hook and electrical cable for the chandelier. If the painting of individual sections of the walls and ceiling is performed in different colors, then use masking tape.
Sometimes the profiles are illuminated, and a very delightful effect is obtained. The play of shadows and light will create the smoothness of all transitions of decorative profiles, and add individuality to the interior of the room.
